On June 3, 2015, The Hallie Ford Foundation announced that Ben Buswell is one of five recipients of their prestigious Fellowships in the Visual Arts. It feels like exactly the right moment for such recognition, and we're honored to be part of supporting Ben Buswell's creative path. I extend my warmest congratulations to Ben and the other four Hallie Ford Fellows this year: MK Guth, Tom Prochaska, Jack Ryan and Samantha Wall (whom we had the pleasure of exhibiting in our Self(ie) Portraits group show in February 2014, courtesy of Laura Russo Gallery).
Rodrigo Valenzuela's solo exhibition, titled Residuos, opened at Museo de Arte Contemporáneo at the University of Chile on June 12. Following a string of successes here in the United States, including his recent installation at the Frye Art Museum in Seattle and multiple awards, we're pleased to see him recognized once again in his country of birth.
Katie Torn and Ryan Whittier Hale have work included in FILE ANIMA 2015 (June 16 – August 16), the portion of Sao Paulo, Brazil's Electronic Language International Festival that features animated works. Torn's screened works include Crash, Breathe Deep and The Calm Before the Storm (shown here at Upfor during her solo show last year).
This week sees a solo exhibition of new and recent paintings by Jack Featherly opening at Mesler/Feuer in New York. The exhibition, titled Fax Generation, will be on view from June 25 through July 31, 2015. Ben Buswell will also have work on view at PNCA's new 511 NW Broadway building for the next two weeks, along with the other Hallie Ford Fellows.
Finally, MSHR is on summer tour, sharing their impossible-to-classify audio/visual performances at music and art venues throughout North America, with a notable stop in Montreal on June 26 as part of Elektra16, an annual festival with a focus on audio and digital art.
And all of that just in June! Later this summer, July 30 through August 2, Upfor heads north to join over 60 other Pacific Northwest, national and international galleries at the Seattle Art Fair. You can check our fair page for updates regarding this and other art fairs we're participating in.
